  • What you can expect from Dermaplaning?

There is no downtime associated with this procedure. The patient should be educated about the importance of using sunscreen to reduce the chance of hyperpigmentation. Dermaplaning can be done as often as every two weeks, although it is usually done when vellus hair starts to grow back, which is generally in about one month’s time.

  • Who should consider dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is especially effective on those with dry or rough skin texture and helps to minimize superficial acne scarring or uneven skin tone. It is also beneficial for mature skin, which tends to have a buildup of dead cells as cellular turnover slows down with age. Dermaplaning is safe for pregnant or lactating clients who cannot have chemical peels (peels penetrate the skin to act at the cellular level, thus are contraindicated).

  • What are the benefits of Dermaplaning?

Exfoliation with Dermaplaning helps your skin care products penetrate the skin and improves their results. Dermaplaning removes excess fine hairs which are known for trapping dirt, oil and dead skin cells in your pores that are the main cause of acne, milia, close comedones, and blemishes.

  • How long does it take to recover from Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a quick, effective procedure that normally takes 45 minutes to complete. It is recommended that patients space treatments approximately two to four weeks apart for the best results. There is absolutely no recovery or downtime with this treatment.

  • Is Dermaplaning good for acne?

While dermaplaning can help reduce the appearance of acne scars, it is not advised for those with active acne and/or frequent breakouts. The procedure can end up leading to overactivity in sebaceous glands in these patients, leading to excess oil, and as a result, breakouts.

  • Does Dermaplaning help with wrinkles?

Dermaplaning is also said to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, increase skincare absorption, and make makeup application smoother and easier. Women with darker hair on their face will see an instant improvement in skin brightness with dermaplaning.

  • Is Dermaplaning good for rosacea?

Dermaplaning is an exfoliating treatment that can be used to remove facial hair in patient’s rosacea. Dermaplaning provides an alternative to chemical peels or microdermabrasion and is a good choice for anyone who has facial hair as well as extremely sensitive skin, redness or rosacea, or visible facial veins.

  • Can you put on makeup after Dermaplaning?

It is not normal to break out or have sensitive skin after the treatment. You can go on with your day after dermaplaning and apply makeup right away! … If you do wait longer between treatments, you may notice that your skin is not as smooth as it was before.

  • Are there any contraindications with dermaplaning?

The only contra-indications to dermaplaning include numerous raised lesions on the skin or inflamed acne.
